About Me

IMG_8881The Math CAB is Chris Allen-Black.  I am a math teacher, husband, and puppy-daddy.   I grew up in Orange Park, and went to Orange Park High School.  After receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics Education from Florida State University, I began teaching for Duval County Public Schools.  I first taught 8th grade at Landmark Middle School, and then at Twin Lakes Academy – Middle.  After 10 years of teaching middle school,  I transferred to Douglas Anderson School of the Arts where I spent 4 years teaching math, and 3 additional years as the school’s Curriculum Coordinator.

In 2010, I relocated to the Boston, MA area, where I worked at Medford High School, for five years.

In 2015, I returned to my school “home” at Douglas Anderson, and am thrilled to be back working in such a great school with an even greater student body.  As a theatre kid myself, I truly feel right at home back at DA.

In my 28 years of working in public education, I have been honored to be a two-time school-based Teacher of the Year, as well as being a Duval County Teacher of the Year Semi-Finalist.  Outside of school, I love to play piano, cook, watch the Food Network on television, and spend way too much money on weekend trips to Disney World.
